Church interior design is a recent project type for Synthesis Interior Design. Multiple room remodels for First Presbyterian Church of Portland, OR were completed by 2020. Remodeling church interiors provides a unique opportunity to enhance the historical detailing and support new functions for congregations and non-member user groups. The Heritage Room at First Presbyterian illustrates this – a new arts and crafts patterned wool carpet was selected to complement the building’s style; millwork detailing was restored to the original moldings and a new media wall supports technology requirements of various users. The Geneva Fellowship Hall, Calvin Library, several meeting rooms, and seven bathrooms were also included in the remodel scope of work.
